Energy Fraud And Energy Scams

There has been a pretty bad rumor mill running around the energy, electricity and natural gas business for many years. Certain companies would hire traditional hourly rate employees and have them knock on doors and switch energy providers from the encumbant to the reseller. It is the reseller who has taken advantage of recent energy deregulation and there is nothing wrong with this, in theory.

But what we have heard is that these businesses try to lock customers into a certain rate for their electricity or natural gas, and that rate does not fluctuate. This sounds really good in theory, but wait… what if the current rates drop? Well, this is where some folks have come in and said that these type of schemes or ways are scams or frauds. Because if the natural gas rates plummet, the customer is stuck at the flat rate. Where the scam or fraud comes in is when the customer is not properly informed at the time of the energy switch as to the terms. In fact, there have been rumors floating that some energy scams have even slammed customers… which is where they switch the energy natural gas service without the customers’ knowledge or approval. These scams are bad, but the network marketing energy companies are not engaging in this behavior, That is why we brought this point up first because we want to make sure you can distinguish the difference.

What About MLM Network Marketing Energy Natural Gas Companies

There are a few and they are in the newtwork marketing industry. They basically have their consultants pay an upfront fee of around $400 to be able to “sell” the natural gas or electricity service. They will also charge you around $30 per month in order to have a website or portal that allows you sign up energy customers.

These companies are operating in the derugulated energy states such as Texas, Illinois and New York and Georgia. The network marketing energy business is booming. It truly is an energy gold rush.

Is there A Scam Or Fraud Element?

We have seen accusations of these network companies being scams or frauds, but not in the tradtional sense. Seriously, most of the issues have come from discruntled networkers who were mislead by other energy reps or consultants. sound familiar? The companies go by many names, Ignite Stream Energy, Ambit Energy, Izagg Energy… but we cannot seem to find any founded complaints about any of them being a scam or fraud. Mostly just a lot of conjecture and hearsay, nothing founded.

This truly happens, however, in any network marketing business. There are always going to be people who are fraudulant or scammers, these people should not reflect upon the operating businesses.
